Hello, I'm

Taylor Wall

Statistics/DS Student, Developer & Entrepreneur

I build AI systems that work offline and respect privacy. Currently developing Isla Engine, a local-first framework that extends beyond traditional RAG with modular pipelines and hybrid search strategies.

About

I'm a Statistics (Data Science) student at Brigham Young University, graduating in 2026. I've built several businesses and work as a research and teaching assistant for an AI prototyping/product management class, combining technical development with real-world entrepreneurship.

My current focus is Isla Engine, a local-first AI framework that extends beyond traditional RAG systems. I developed the Isla Experiment methodology to rapidly test and validate AI applications, from consumer tools like Isla Journal to specialized document analysis platforms.

Beyond tech, I've founded ProJet Pressure Wash (scaled to $2,000 MRR), worked as a fishing guide in Alaska, and summited Pico de Orizaba. I've also volunteered internationally, including two years in Mexico managing budgets over $100,000.

01

Isla Engine

A local-first AI framework I'm building for analysis and retrieval that goes beyond traditional RAG. Features modular pipelines for extraction, scoring, and summarization with pluggable search strategies (vector, BM25, hybrid). Runs offline via Ollama with optional cloud LLM routing.

AI Prototyping TA/RA

Teaching and Research Assistant for BYU's "Creating Digital Products with AI: Strategy and Prototyping" course. I help develop curriculum, assist students with AI implementation projects, and research emerging AI application patterns. The course covers practical AI strategy, rapid prototyping methodologies, and real-world deployment considerations.

Isla Experiment

My approach to quickly testing AI applications built on Isla Engine. I ship configurable "faces" defined by JSON that cover data sources, prompts, and search settings. Several faces have generated revenue and established monthly recurring revenue streams. By measuring user engagement through small traffic tests, I can iterate quickly and focus on what works.

Document Intelligence Platform

A specialized Isla Engine application for lease and contract analysis, developed in partnership with real estate development firms. I'm working closely with industry professionals to refine the platform's offline operation, data provenance, and auditability features - critical requirements when processing sensitive business documents.
